Carlee Wine Items For Viewing

Siegerrebe Huxelrebe Spaetlese

We have been trying to find this type of wine made from a combination of the Siegerrebe and Huxelrebe for a long time. The Siegerrebe is a sweet aromatic variety adding richness with a beautiful bouquet of its own. The Huxelrebe also is used to blend with other grapes to enhance the complexity of the total package. The Cellar master has produced a Spaetlese full of exploding bouquet, rich in fruit with fireworks of taste at the finish. Chill well and enjoy this semi sweet white wine from Germany on its own or with fruits and cheeses. This is a deliciously unique style of wine: a wonderful gift! GWHSS702 GWHSS702

Tax Man Red

Good Morning Gentle Readers, Is this cool or what? Yes, the white Freesias are past their prime. They still smell good though. Tip of the Glass to Linda and the gang at Sunset Ridge Vineyards for the specialty, namesake blend that was, frankly, quite tasty. Not as tasty as the Sunset Ridge Petite Syrah, which I reviewed here, but still quite a treat. Full Disclosure: The SRV Petite Syrah (I know it really is Petit Syrah) was really good and I was one of the fortunate few to taste the inau

The Winery Says: Check out The Wine Spies on Wine Library TV About This Wine: This seductive blend of Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, and Carignane is our tribute to the great field blends of yesteryear. Slowly these old vineyards are being replaced and some of our heritage is lost each time. Enjoy this salute to the pioneers of our profession. Our 05 Bountiful Zinfandel is a very special wine that we made only 300 cases of. It is a field blend. That means all three grapes, about 9 is Petite Syrah, ab

A kiss of red wine

Sun, 30 Mar 2008 12:55:30 PDT
It was awful. Imagine a giraffe performing a facial wet-willy with its dripping, muscular tongue on a search and destroy mission. A giraffe that had just eaten a carton of house-special low mein washed down with a Schlitz and a smoke. That's how bad of a kiss it was. But, when the sloppy smooch was over, I didn't wipe my mouth and think to myself, "no more kissing for me" . What I thought was, "No more kissing that guy". Or, more generously, "no more kissing that guy right now. Maybe it'll be be

Marinade Ingredients (amounts are approximate) 3/4 cup olive oil3 tbsp Worcestershire sauceJuice from 1/2 of a lime2 cloves garlic, chopped1 sprig of fresh thyme1 tsp dry mustard1/4 tsp turmeric We let the London Broil marinate in the fr

New Producers from Wine Cask Futures

Mon, 31 Mar 2008 13:26:18 PDT
I just got back from a quick trip to attend the Santa Barbara Wine Cask Futures tasting on Saturday. It was my second year to scope out new talent at this long running event now in its 19th year and also see what some of the established wineries will be showing me over the next 8 to 12 months. Attendance seemed to be off a liitle this year, both for vintners who were there last year and also for public. The first person I saw after jumping the queue in the lobby to exercise the "journalist earl

I n a tiny vineyard off Nacimiento Lake Drive, Grant and Cel Tustin are planting Portuguese grapes unfamiliar to most wine drinkers: touriga francesa, touriga nacional, tinta barroca and tinta roriz. “I love true, traditional ruby port,” she said, explaining their choice of grapes. A Featured Wine Importers Article

Residential Wine Cellars

Wine has become a popular beverage with many Americans, and is sold almost everywhere. This is because it is studied consistently for its wide variety in taste, depending on where it's produced, and it can be an important part of a meal, since it is known to enhance the taste of certain foods. Thus, residential wine cellars allow a homeowner the space to store their favorite wines and/or build an impressive collection of vintages. Residential wine cellars are also very affordable and don't take up that much space.

Residential wine cellars allow a wine connoisseur to store wines for a long period of time, or "age" the wine. Aging a wine contributes to its taste and sophistication. Since a wine also records its environment in its taste, temperature, humidity, light, and vibration will also impact the taste of the wine in residential wine cellars. Generally, 55?F is the average temperature that wines should be kept at. 50? to 60?F is usually acceptable, but some white wines like to be as low at 45?F.

Sudden fluctuations in the temperature can adversely affect the wine's taste. Humidity of your cellar should stay between 60% and 80%. Exposing your cellar to light should be avoided, because light disrupts the aging process. Excessive vibration of your wine can disturb the sediments found in the bottle.

Residential wine cellars don't have to cost a lot of money. In fact, you can probably build residential wine cellars yourself with your extra basement space or use an alternative area in your house or apartment. A dark interior closet or pantry will work nicely, although don't store the wine near strong-smelling foods. Keep your wine away from stoves and heat sources, as they would allow the temperature to fluctuate too much. Cool, damp basements are good as well.

Find wine, bar and alcohol accessories online at WineandBarAccessories.net: whether you're hosting a dinner party or a wine tasting event, there are a variety of wine and bar accessories any good host should have on hand. Wine Importers Products we recommend

Pahlmeyer - Proprietary Red blend

"Possibly the finest proprietary red since the 1997, the 2001 Proprietary Red is a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot, and 1% Malbec that was aged in new Taransaud barrels. It exhibits a dense saturated purple color in addition to a big, sweet nose of road tar, smoke, chocolate, blackberries, and creme de cassis. Like most 2001's, it possesses considerable structure as well as high tannin, real delineation, and a full-bodied, powerful finish. It should hit its peak in 4-6 years, and age well for 15+. Impressive!" RP - 91 (Subject to Availability) PAH01 PAH01
